“And when he came to the place where the wild things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
til Max said ‘BE STILL!’
and tamed them with the magic trick…”
Where the Wild Things Are
Maurice Sendak 1963
The name Calm Creature was inspired by the shared experience that we are all human, doing the best we can, while carrying a lot. Some days we feel strong, and other days we can feel like big, messy, scary creatures navigating heavy emotions.
My intention in all my Yoga classes is to create spaces where one can feel safe to slow down, process it all, and let go; a quiet place where we can soften our hearts so that we can become calmer, stronger versions of ourselves.
Calm Creature is a welcoming space offering thoughtful and inspiring yoga classes focused on rest, mindfulness, and slowing it all the way down.

Certified Yoga Instructor RYT-200
Level 2 Usui Reiki Practitioner
Hi! My name is Karen, and my Yoga journey started when my friend introduced me to Yoga through Groupon 🙂 On that fateful day, I attended my first – and last – Bikram Yoga class lol. Even though Bikram wasn’t for me, I loved the community experience of a group class, and for the next 10+ years I explored many styles of Yoga.
As a student, my most memorable classes were through Restorative and Yin Yoga because of the gentle pace and thoughtful intention behind each pose and cue. When I became a Yoga instructor, these classes inspired me to share my appreciation for slow Yoga in a world where burnout and hustle culture are rewarded.
I am fortunate to have completed over 800 hours of teaching experience teaching Restorative, Yin, and Hatha Yoga classes through public, private, and volunteer channels.
I completed my 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training through Sheridan College under Sundeep Tiyagi and Courtney Bruce, 20-hour Restorative Yoga Teacher Training under Andrea Peloso, 25-hour Yoga Detour Training under Cecily Milne, as well as my Level 2 Usui Reiki certification through Carol Righton.
I hope to practice with you some day!
